Volunteer Opportunities to Support Survivors in Lake of the Ozarks

CADV relies on the dedication of volunteers to provide life-changing support for survivors in the Lake of the Ozarks. Our volunteer positions range from answering the 24-hour crisis hotline and providing child care during support groups, to assisting with transportation, advocacy, and community outreach. Each role is essential to helping survivors access the services, guidance, and care they need to heal and rebuild their lives. By volunteering with CADV, you become a crucial part of a compassionate team working to end domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking in our community.

Crisis Line Work

Answer CADV’s 24-hour hotline to provide telephone crisis intervention, information, and referrals. Each call is documented on a Hotline Contact Sheet.

Hospital Advocate

Provide face-to-face support for victims and their families in the hospital emergency department. Advocates respond as needed during their scheduled on-call period each month.

Administrative Support

Assist the administrative team with daily office duties including answering phones, filing, preparing mailings, and maintaining databases.

Transportation

Help clients and their children travel safely to appointments, school, pharmacies, or court.

Child Care

Provide child care during support groups, educational sessions, court appointments, and doctor visits. Most shifts are Tuesday evenings during support group meetings.

Life Skills Class Facilitator

Teach residents essential life skills such as budgeting, finances, basic healthcare, nutrition, and parenting strategies.

Informational Booths

Assist with planning and staffing school fairs, health fairs, church events, and educational booths throughout the Tri-County area.

Speakers Bureau

Serve as a community spokesperson for CADV, delivering presentations on domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking prevention.

Aftercare Program – Transitional Support

Provide assistance to clients as they move through the continuum of care necessary to live a violence-free life after shelter or other CADV services.

Aftercare Program – Advocacy Support

Offer guidance, referrals, and advocacy for clients post-shelter, helping them access services and develop safety plans.

Building & Yard Maintenance

Assist with general maintenance tasks such as painting, carpentry, electrical work, tree trimming, and mowing.

Translation Services

Help non-English speaking clients receive high-quality crisis services. Volunteers fluent in languages such as Spanish or Russian are needed to translate and support survivors effectively.

Each volunteer undergoes a comprehensive training program and a background check to ensure they are fully prepared to provide safe, effective, and compassionate support.
